Qualifying Exam Timeline
- 2 Weeks Prior to quals semester (8/8): Grad student submits Student Profile Form in consultation with advisor
- Week 2 (9/2): RAG sends committee recommendations to Grad Committee
- Week 3 (9/9): Graduate Office notifies students and faculty of their committee assignments
- Week 4 (9/16): Exam Faculty Chair and Student schedule exam date with committee members; communicates date to Graduate Office
- Weeks 5-7 (9/19 – 10/7): Exam Faculty Chair sent 3 papers to the student (2 weeks prior to the scheduled exam date); confirms with Graduate Office
- Weeks 7-9 (10/3 – 10/21): Exam is conducted, committee chair communicates result to Graduate Office with completed rubric feedback from the committee
In a case of a failed first attempt:
- Student immediately schedules retake exam to take place before the end of the term (12/15 latest); communicates date to Graduate Office
- 2 Weeks prior to Retake (by 12/1 latest): Students scheduled to retake exam are sent the 3 papers that will be used for the retake
- Before the end of the term (12/15 latest): Exam is conducted, committee chair communicates result to Graduate Office with completed rubric feedback
