Join us on Thursday, April 14, 2022, to hear Woodruff School graduate Carly Queen (ME 09, MS CE 16, M CRP 16) and transportation engineer deliver a talk titled “My Life in High Gear.” Queen will present an overview of her life and work, with highlights including what inspired her to become a transportation planner and engineer and examples of how she advances safer transportation and sustainable development projects in Atlanta and beyond through her professional and volunteer efforts. Among her many accolades, Queen is a Georgia Tech Alumni Association 40 Under 40 honoree from 2021.Young Alumni Speaker Series is part of the Woodruff School Connections program.

Bio

Carly Queen is a Sustainable Transportation Specialist and Civil Engineer with AECOM in Atlanta, where she focuses on planning and engineering activities to advance multimodal transportation infrastructure and safety across Georgia. She supports the Georgia Department of Transportation and other clients in analysis and design of safer, more efficient surface transportation systems, drawing upon her degrees in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and City and Regional Planning from Georgia Tech. Carly builds on her previous experience working in data analysis and as a sustainability advisor and community organizer by bringing a data-driven yet community-oriented approach to problem solving and urban redevelopment. She has served in a variety of nonprofit leadership roles, including serving as President of the Board of Directors for Groundwork Atlanta for the last five years. Ms. Queen has been recognized with several honors and awards for her volunteer service as well as academic and professional accomplishments over the last several years, including two Dwight D. Eisenhower Graduate Fellowships, an Innovation in Safety Award from the Atlanta Bicycle Coalition, and most recently the Georgia Tech Alumni Association 40 Under 40 Class of 2021.
