Mechanical Engineering Tenure-Track Faculty Position

The George W. Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering at Georgia Tech is seeking nominations and applications for appointment to the Agustin A. Ramirez/HUSCO International Distinguished Chair. We seek a nationally and internationally recognized expert in the engineering science and technology of fluid power or dynamics and controls and their application in: industrial, medical, aerospace and other fields. Candidates should have a doctoral degree in a relevant field of engineering and a record that demonstrates outstanding accomplishments in research and teaching. The person appointed to this position will be expected to lead a highly visible academic program with significant levels of research funding, scholarly achievement, and active involvement with students.

The candidate appointed to the Agustin A. Ramirez/HUSCO International Distinguished Chair will participate in planning, organizing, and offering multidisciplinary academic program to enhance Georgia Tech’s involvement in contributory areas of engineering and technology for fluid power systems or motion control; will provide leadership locally, nationally, and internationally to encourage the application of engineering science and technology to this field; will assist with the development of new faculty at this and other institutions who are committed to the application of engineering and technology to fluid power and motion control systems; and will become personally involved in teaching graduate and undergraduate courses that create interest in this field.

Georgia Tech is a state institution dedicated to both teaching and research. The College of Engineering enrolls over 8,076 undergraduate students and 3,835 graduate students. The Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering includes approximately 1,700 undergraduate students, 800 graduate students, and has a faculty of 85 persons. The Woodruff School is responsible for degree programs in mechanical engineering, nuclear and radiological engineering, and health physics.
