I was an Assistant Professor of Astronautical Engineering at the US Air Force Academy from 1995-1999. The Air Force decided to send me back for my Ph.D. and, of course, I chose Ga. Tech. I graduated from Tech with a BS in ME in 1988 and MS in 1989 and realized the exceptional faculty and resources there couldn't be beat by another university. Tech was really the only choice for me.

I was teaching assistant while I worked on my MS degree during 1988 and 1989 (ME 3056). I was assigned to Los Angeles AFB in 1989 where I worked in the Titan IV (expendable launch vehicle) program office until 1995. I am positive the experience I had teaching at Tech during that year helped me get my next assignment teaching at the US Air Force Academy. In addition, I seldom met anyone who didn't note that Ga Tech is a well-known and prestigious school which is always good for one's career.
