Teaching Interests
Professor Sanders' teaching interests include mechanical engineering courses covering mechanics, engineering optimization, and numerical methods at both undergraduate and graduate levels. She emphasizes foundational principles and their practical applications. Her teaching approach integrates problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Professor Sanders actively involves students in research projects to enhance their learning experience and foster a deep understanding of mechanical engineering concepts.
Research Interests
Professor Sanders' research focuses on infusing fundamental mechanics principles into optimization-based design and advanced manufacturing to achieve novel structures and components that use material efficiently and/or achieve a targeted physical response. Research efforts include theoretical, computational, and experimental methods with active involvement of graduate and undergraduate students in interdisciplinary projects.
