Education
- Ph.D., Georgia Institute of Technology, 1990
- M.S., Georgia Institute of Technology, 1988
- B.S., Georgia Institute of Technology, 1986
Teaching Interests
Professor Smith's teaching is focused on the undergraduate core course, most often in machine design. In all courses, he works to incorporate design and open-ended problems to better prepare students for engineering practice in the real world.
Research Interests
Professor Smith's research activities have been primarily focused on the design and precision control of large, steerable telescopes, particularly at millimeter and submillimeter wavelengths.
