Once I made up my mind to leave industry to pursue a PhD, Georgia Tech was my clear first choice as the nation's leader in practical and industry-related research. But it wasn't until I arrived on campus that I began to truly appreciate the Woodruff School. Of course this exceptionally well ranked and respected program had extensive laboratory and computer facilities, as well as a multitude of research options; but what truly caught my attention was the welcoming atmosphere and the host of professionals prepared to help me on my way. Frankly, given its outstanding reputation, I had braced myself for a school full of egomaniacs, but I am happy to say, you will have to go elsewhere for that! In fact, throughout my graduate experience the people of the Woodruff School continued to be its greatest asset; from the highly skilled electronics shop staff, to my fellow graduate students, to the department chair, I always encountered open doors and can-do attitudes. This exceptional environment enabled me, like no other time in my life, to focus my energy on developing myself - which in the end is precisely what the Woodruff School teaches - the people of the Woodruff School do more than give you the tools you need to excel, they also equip you with the enthusiasm to do it.
