It could not have prepared me any better. I knew I wanted to be a professor and the Woodruff School is flexible enough to provide focus in certain areas such as teaching for those who want to teach. For those who want to work in industry, Woodruff helps provide industry experience. Woodruff provides the background, training, and foundation for any career. It is unlike any place in the country I have seen.
The flexibility of options, research, industrial or academic experiences is unsurpassed. The environment created by this flexibility and the diversity of faculty, students, and the city provide what I think is an opportunity to flourish and succeed regardless of the career you take. The quality in the Woodruff School is first class. You really don't appreciate what you have until it's gone. Well, I am no longer at the Woodruff School, but having seen many comparable institutions, the School is at least a notch or two or three ahead of many places with respect to people, facilities, and programs.
As is the case for many students, deciding where to pursue graduate studies was a difficult decision for me. It came down to a level of comfort I had with the place, the people, the city, and the entire Georgia Tech experience. Georgia Tech makes an enormous effort to make their students feel welcome, at home, equipped, honored, and important. If I had to do again, there is nothing I would change about the decision to attend Georgia Tech.
