Going to school at Georgia Tech was really quite accidental. It goes back to my undergraduate years in Norway where I heard it was possible to go to Georgia Tech; since I had never been in the U.S. before I thought this was a good opportunity. However, when I decided to go for a Ph.D. the choice was simple - it had to be Georgia Tech since I had enjoyed myself in every way during my studies for the master's degree.
Besides the content of the classes, the quarter system helped me to learn to focus more effectively than before, and more importantly, to work systematically and continuously. This is now invaluable to me as I have become responsible for the manufacturing operations at a furniture company in Norway and also when I do consulting work.
The heavy usage of project work as well as many classes that cross the ordinary disciplines were very important. In addition, besides the fact that the graduate program is excellent, it is also affordable. I think this is perhaps the greatest strength of the graduate program at Georgia Tech - very high quality at affordable costs.
The graduate program at Georgia Tech is one of the very best in every aspect. I would highly recommend it.
