Dr. Yoon Jo Kim

Dr. Kim received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (1998), and his  M.S. (2000) and Ph.D. (2005) from the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Seoul National University, South Korea.  He joined our group in Fall 2005. He is researching the thermal implications of next generation interconnects, including a review on the thermal dependences and aspects of next generation interconnects and an analysis to evaluate those effects on the interconnect performances.  He is also developing a micro-scale absorption heat pump system for electronics cooling, which includes effective desorber/absorber design, practical micro-scale system integration, and experimental/numerical analysis on the performance and characteristics of the system and its components.

Dr. Renqiang Xiong

Xiong received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from University of Florida in 2007. His current research activities mainly include 3D stacked electronics cooling using solid and two-phase heat spreaders, and microfluidic techniques for high power embedded active components. He is also involved in using the micron resolution particle image velocimetry (micro-PIV) technique to research on the nanoparticle-fluid suspensions (nanofluids).

Shivesh Suman : Ph.D. Student (Spring 2007)

Shivesh received his M.S. from the Georgia Institute of Technology and his B.Tech. from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, India. His current research interests are in thermal MEMS and in cryogenic cooling of electronics.

Carter received his B.S. from Carnegie Mellon University and joined our group in the Fall of 2004. His research interests lie in the area of carbon nanostructures and convective heat transfer.

Ashish Sinha: Ph.D. Student (Spring 2008)

Ashish received his B.S. from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India.  He is currently involved with the design of thermal management systems for electronics used in oil well drilling.

Emad Samadiani : Ph.D. Student (Fall 2010)

Emad received his B.S. (2003) and M.S. (2005) in Mechanical Engineering from Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, Iran, and he joined our group in Fall 2005. His research involves thermal management and design problems of Data Centers.

Reza Khiabani : Ph.D. Student (Spring 2010)

Reza received his B.S. (2003) and M.S. (2005) in Mechanical Engineering from Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, Iran, and he joined our group in Spring 2006. His research involves characterizing the heat transfer and fluid mechanics of microparticles suspended in fluids.

Vivek Sahu : Ph.D. Student (Fall 2010)

Vivek received his B.Tech. (2006) from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, India, and joined our group in Fall 2006.  He is co-advised by Dr. Fedorov (ME).  His research interest includes thermal management of electronics with emphasis on hot spot cooling."

Shankar Narayanan: PhD Student (Fall 2009)

Shankar received his B.E. (2004) from Osmania University, Hyderabad, India, and M.S. (2006) from Pennsylvania State University. He joined our group in Fall 2006 and is advised by Dr. Andrei Fedorov (ME) and Dr. Yogendra Joshi. Shankar is currently working on “Perspiration Nano-Patch for Hot-Spot Thermal Management”.

Ethan Cruz : Ph.D. Student (Fall 2010)

Ethan joined our group in Spring 2007.  He is employed by IBM and is interested in nanoscale heat transfer, data center design, and CFD.

Anubhav received his B.S. from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India. He is a distance learning student and currently employed at GE Global Research Center, India. His research involves thermal management and design problems of Data Centers.
