Requesting Firewall Access

To make systems that might be vulnerable to the internet less likely to be compromised, OIT has decided to change the default connection "port" for remote desktop connections. It has been changed from the default setting of 3389 to 3489.

These changes have been incorporated into our Remote Desktop Instructions.

The dates as to when this will take effect are listed below:

In addition to setting up your computer for Remote Desktop, you will also need to fill out a Firewall Change Request Form so that your computer will not be blocked. This form needs to be sent to the ME Help Desk at support@me.gatech.edu.

When filling out this form, the Destination IP will be your office computer (ie. the computer you want to remote desktop into). The Source IP should be the computer that will be accessing the office machine. If you are using DHCP at home (such as the GT LAWN) and your IP changes, then you will want to make the Source IP the world.
