Using the Windows Fax Client
You can
send any of your files including Excel spreadsheets, Word documents, PDF files,
pictures and almost every printable file via fax using Windows XP’s fax client.
Note: The Windows
Fax Client is not installed by default during the installation of the Windows
XP operating system. The Windows XP installation disk will be required to
install the Fax Client. Please contact ME Computer Support for details or
assistance.

Note: The Receive Fax function for Incoming Faxes has not been configured
at this time and will not be available for use. The Fax Client can be used ONLY for sending faxes at this time.
Connecting to the Shared Fax Service
You do not
have to connect to the Fax printer
every time you send a fax. You will need to connect to it when the Fax service
is first set up and for troubleshooting purposes only.

- Type \\gtmefax and click OK
- Login with your domain account
username and password
- Right-click on the Fax printer and select Connect

Configuring Sender Information
- Go to Start
> All Programs > Accessories > Communications > Fax > Fax
Console

- If this is the first time you are using the Fax
console, you can skip the next step. You will be directly taken to the Sender Information dialog box.
- Click on Tools
> Sender Information

- Edit your personal information as you want it to
appear on the cover pages of the faxes that you send. All information
entered by you will be displayed on the cover page of the sent fax. If you
keep all fields blank, the cover page will not contain any sender
information

Sending a Document as Fax
- Open the document, spreadsheet or
picture that you want to send through fax
- Click
on File > Print


- Click
OK. The “Send Fax Wizard” will open up
- Click
Next
- Type
in the recipient’s name in the “To:”
field or select a recipient from the “Address
Book” by clicking on the “Address
Book” button. This is solely for your own purposes. The fax will be
delivered to the number entered in the next step regardless of the name of
the recipient that you type in
- Type
in the fax number that you want to send the fax to. Include 9 before the fax number. Your fax will not be sent if
you do not include a 9 before the fax number
- Do NOT check the “Use dialing rules” checkbox

- Click Next
- If you
want to send a Cover page with
you document, check the Select a
cover page template with the following information checkbox
- Select
the type of Cover page from the Cover page template dropdown menu.
- Type
in a Subject line and a Note in their respective fields.

- Click Next
- Select
when you want to send the fax. Do NOT
select When discount rates apply.
You can choose to select your fax Now
or specify a time to send it in the net 24 hours
- Select
a fax priority. In general you should choose the priority to be Normal

- Click Next
- If you
want to receive a notification of the fax having been sent, check the Email message radio button and
enter your email address in the field provided. Otherwise, select the Don’t notify radio button.
- You
will receive a notification of the sent fax via email at the address that
you entered.
- You
can also choose to have a copy of the sent fax attached with the
notification by checking the check box at the bottom of the window.

- Click Next
- Review
the information provided. You can also Preview
the fax by clicking on Preview

- Go to Start
> All Programs > Accessories > Communications > Fax > Fax

Click on Outbox in the left pane
of the window

Press F5 or click on View >
Refresh Folder to see an updated view of the folder

Right-click on a fax in the right pane on the window and select Properties

You can see the Status of the Fax
and other information by switching between the General, Details and Sender
Information tabs

Click Close
Viewing sent faxes

Click on Sent Items in the left pane of the window
·
Right-click on a fax in the right pane on the window and select View

Warning: Avoid
using the Pause, Resume, and Restart functions. Using these may cause
partial transmission or distortion of your document.
