How to connect to the

Local Area Wireless/Walkup Network (LAWN)

 

The instructions on the following pages will assist you with configuration of your laptop computer system on the Georgia Tech Local Area Wireless/Walkup Network (LAWN). 

 

1.       Systems requirements and prerequisites:

·         Your Laptop must be equipped with a 10/100 Ethernet LAN card with an RJ45 (10baseT) connector or an IEEE 802.11 wireless card utilizing wired equivalent privacy (WEP), with a 64-bit key.

·         Your web browser must support 128-bit encryption.

·         You must know your OIT prism username and password (sometimes called your acme account).  This can be obtained in the Resource Center on the ground floor of the Library.

·         If you have further questions regarding LAWN access requirements, then view the LAWN help page.

* Only designated ports with instructions posted are wired and configured to connect via the LAWN.

 

2.       Configure your laptop for Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP).  To setup your laptop computer to use DHCP read the following pages, which includes both PC & Mac instructions.

 

3.       After configuring it for DHCP, reboot your computer and open your browser.  The default web page that comes should be the logon page as shown below.

      Also, users have access to a second convenient wireless Internet solution through FASTPASS. Please see the following pages for more information on FASTPASS.

4.       Log in using your prism username and password. You will then be able to connect to web sites, prism web mail, etc. on the Internet.


5.       Once connected you will receive a log-on screen indicating: Login Successful

Message: Full network access granted. You are now authenticated for this session and can use network related software without restrictions.

6.   Click on the continue icon to proceed.
