Capstone Design Expo Winners

At the largest expo yet, with 137 teams showcasing very promising innovation and inventions during the Spring 2013 Capstone Design Expo in Georgia Tech's McCamish Pavilion, winners undoubtedly earned their awards!

ME 2110: From Sophomores To Startups

The project theme for the Spring 2013 ME 2110 Design Contest swas "Tech Startup." The student teams designed, prototyped and fielded autonomous machines, or startup robots, that emulated a small technology startup venture and competed to launch products to market, generate revenue, and stimulate growth.

The Well-Rounded ME Undergrad

Nine Singhara, originally from Thailand, will come back from the summer to enter her sophomore year in the George W. Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering, while also pursuing a double minor in Industrial Design and German. Here she speaks to EngineeringBecause about life and learning at Georgia Tech.

Erturk Receives NSF Career Award

Dr. Alper Erturk, assistant professor in the George W. Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering, has been awarded a prestigious 2013 Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Award from the National Science Foundation’s civil, mechanical, and manufacturing innovation division for his research on the electroelastic dynamics of flexible piezoelectric composites for enhanced biomimetic locomotion and energy harvesting.

Hu Receives NSF Career Award

Dr. David Hu, assistant professor in the George W. Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering, has been awarded a prestigious 2013 Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Award from the National Science Foundation’s physics division for his research on the locomotion through particulate environments by invertebrates and vertebrates.
