WHAT'S NEW

ME Joint Degrees

ME has established a joint master's degree program with the University of Stuttgart in Germany and a doctoral degree program with Seoul National University in Korea. Both will give students a chance to spend at least one year abroad after beginning their studies at their home institutions.

Team Spot On Takes Capstone's Top Prize

Sitaraman Receives NITT Distinguished Alumnus Award

Professor Suresh K. Sitaraman received the Distinguished Alumnus Award from the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli (NITT) at its 50-year Golden Jubilee event. The Chief Guest at this event was the Honorable Pranab Mukherjee, President of India.

Sitaraman was one of approximately 30 awardees recognized at this event which was held at the NITT campus in the Indian State of Tamil Nadu. In addition to Sitaraman, Madhavan Swaminathan of ECE was honored with the same Distinguished Alumnus Award for Excellence in Academic/Research.

Woodruff School Students Receive NSF Graduate Fellowships

Woodruff School Faculty Named Team Members for Thermochemical Energy Storage R&D Project

The Department of Energy SunShot Initiative announced $10M for six new R&D projects that will advance innovative concentrating solar power (CSP) technologies. The Concentrating Solar Power: Efficiently Leveraging Equilibrium Mechanisms for Engineering New Thermochemical Storage (CSP:ELEMENTS) funding program supports developing thermochemical energy storage (TCES) systems. ME Professors Peter Loutzenhiser and Sheldon Jeter will be part of the PROMOTES team along with Sandia National Laboratories.

A Message from the School Chair

In the old days at Georgia Tech, when we followed the quarter system, the seasons of the year closely aligned with the academic terms. Now that we are on the semester calendar it feels that summer is already over in mid-August. We have welcomed an impressive cohort of new undergraduate and graduate students for the start of fall semester on August 18.
