Background
Dr. Orloff began at Tech in 1988 as a Professor of Engineering and Principal Research Engineer at the Institute of Paper Science and Technology. He transferred in Summer 2003 to the Woodruff School.
Research
Dr. Orloff's research efforts focus on mathematical analysis and experimental investigation of the de-watering of paper via new pressing and drying concepts. He pioneered research on the impulse drying of paper, leading the Institute of Paper Science and Technology's effort to demonstrate impulse drying on a pilot paper machine. His research support has come from the U. S. Department of Energy.
