Research Areas and Descriptors

Background

Began at Tech in Summer 2005 as an Associate Professor in Materials Science and Engineering with a joint appointment in the Woodruff School. Prior, he was an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Colorado at Boulder and a postdoctoral fellow at Sandia National Laboratories.

Research

Professor Gall's research considers the development and characterization of advanced material systems for implementation into emerging technologies. His group performs experimental and computational studies emphasizing the mechanical behavior of materials at multiple length scales. His past experience and current interests include shape memory alloys/polymers, thin films, polymeric biomaterials, composites, nanowires, and lightweight cast alloys. He has served as a consultant for numerous companies, law firms, and military organizations.
