One of the reasons why I chose to attend Georgia Tech for graduate school was the excitement and drive that I saw in the faculty, staff, and students. While the reputation of the school was already high, no one was resting on their laurels, and everyone involved in the Woodruff School demonstrated a strong desire to make the school one of the best in the nation. Now that I have graduated from Tech, I see the fruits of all of that hard work. Numerous colleagues have mentioned the respect that they have for the work done at Tech, and the Georgia Tech name appears regularly in many of the leading publications covering mechanical engineering.

While the research at Georgia Tech is top-notch, I most appreciated the efforts made by the Woodruff School to help students develop abilities apart from those learned in the lab. For example, the opportunity to teach courses, training in proper writing techniques, and assistance in obtaining funding gave me skills that will last throughout my career. Overall, the administration made every effort to ensure that each graduate student had an excellent experience at Georgia Tech. The excitement of living in the vibrant city of Atlanta coupled with the energetic environment at Georgia Tech made my years in graduate school very rewarding.
