The purpose of the IEEE/ASME International Conference on Advanced Intelligent Mechatronics (AIM) is an offspring flagship conference of TMech.  Inaugurated in 1997, AIM promotes activities in various areas of mechatronics by providing a forum for exchange of ideas, presentation of technical achievements, and discussion of future directions. After six successful biennial editions in Tokyo, Japan (1997), Atlanta, USA (1999), Como, Italy (2001), Port Island, Japan (2003), Monterey, USA (2005), and  ETH Zurich, Switzerland (2007), the AIM Conference is now hosted annually.
