Mission of the
Integrated Acoustics Laboratory
The resources of the Integrated Acoustics
Laboratory are intended to provide an opportunity for faculty
and student research and education over a broad span of acoustic
and vibration topics. The lab's resources provide the tools and
facilities for research anywhere within the development cycle
of theory, analysis, modeling, prototype, test and evaluation.
The lab supports industrial and government sponsored research,
education, testing and evaluation projects.
People of the Integrated
Acoustics Laboratory
The Integrated Acoustics Laboratory was
principally developed through the efforts of Dr.
Kenneth A. Cunefare and Dr.
Yves H. Berthelot. Dr. Krishan Ahuja also provided assistance
in the development of the lab.
History of the Integrated
Acoustics Laboratory
Development and construction of Phase I
of the Integrated Acoustics Laboratory was begun in 1997 through
the support of the Ford Motor Company, the National Science Foundation,
and the Georgia Institute of Technology.
As part of a larger grant, The Georgia
Institute of Technology received a commitment of further support
from the Ford Motor Company to construct Phase II and III of the
the Integrated Acoustics Laboratory. These phases added a semi-anechoic
and a reverberation room and associated instrumentation to the
existing resources of the lab. The chambers were built by Acoustic Systems Inc,
of Austin, TX. The new chambers were completed in 2003.
